Games help you tap them, but once you know what's really under the hood, you can find ways to integrate them into whatever your passion area is.

And those principles don't have to be exclusive to game design. We all have that ability, don't we? If you read the piece, you'll learn about the principles that made her concept work. And I find it remarkable that in that place, she was able to take what she was good at to help herself. What attracted me to this story is the fact that she understood the choice she had-basically, find a way to get better or say fudge it and die. What I find most remarkable about McGonigal's story isn't her ability to use the science of games to produce something incredibly helpful, although that's fantastic.
